We set one cookie with a random ID (av_sid) that lasts up to a year. It keeps your questions together as a conversation and limits how often the same ad is shown. It does not contain your name or contact details.

Questions and answers

Your questions and our answers are stored with that random ID so we can show your conversation, improve answers and find topics that need more sources. Questions we could not answer are kept for our editors. Please do not include personal details such as passport numbers in your questions.

Photos and voice

• ✦Photos are sent to our AI provider to answer your question. We do not store the photo — we only record that the question had one.
• ✦Voice input is handled by your browser or device; we only receive the text.

AI provider

Questions and photos are processed by our AI provider (currently OpenAI) to generate answers.

Advertising

When an ad is shown or clicked we record the event with the random session ID, a shortened one-way hash of your IP address and your browser’s user agent. This is used to count views and clicks, prevent fraud and report totals to advertisers. We do not share personal data with advertisers, and ads are chosen from the page context, not from a profile of you.

Feedback

Votes, comments and the optional email on the Feedback page are used only to improve AskVietnam and, if you ask, to reply to you.

Third parties

• ✦Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to download them.
• ✦We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
• ✦The site is hosted on Render, with servers in Singapore.

Your choices

Clearing your cookies resets your session ID. To ask us to delete a conversation, write to us on the Feedback page and include roughly when you asked and what about.
